And For The People

Margaret Mead once said, "Never underestimate the power of a small group of people to change the world. In fact it’s the only way it ever has." This quote may very well be true but sometimes a small group is not enough! There are over 150 active civic associations in the City of Norfolk, our goal is to create a support structure between these groups so that they speak with a much louder voice, a voice that crosses over the invisible lines of our voting districts.

This site is not intended to political in nature and it will not give an opinion one way or another on the issues that may be posted on this site. Our only platform is that we believe that the will of the people shall be heard, we believe that the members who live in a community know what is best for that community and we will support them in their efforts.

To pettition a city council decision, it requires a minimum of 4000 signatures (or 25% of the total of those who voted in the most recent election.) This is not an easy task! Let’s not wait until after Council makes a decision to gather and show our support. Join and4ThePeople.com and show council that although you may not live in the neighborhood directly affected by these decisions you support their right to make decisions on matters that effect them. However, if a pettition were to be necessary, we will also use our online network to make collecting those 4000+ signatures a much less daunting task.
